There is a story of a monk who was only able to get rid of a group of monkeys chasing him, when he stopped running away from them, and instead turned around and confronted them in the face. This story inspired this artwork, where confronting a tiger's ferocious face, one of the most feared beasts of them all, symbolises facing one’s worst fears.

This is a wood engraving created on a cross-section of turmeric wood. The engraving is done directly on the wood, which is then inked and printed on paper by hand.
